Mary Jamima (Napper Ford) Blackstock was a pioneer ranch wife in Owyhee County, Idaho. Born in Utah, she married rancher Adam H. Blackstock and helped build a family livestock operation in the Squaw Creek / Opaline country near Marsing. She died in Boise on October 20, 1934, and is buried at Canyon Hill Cemetery in Caldwell.

Born in Utah in 1872, she appears in records as Mary Jamima Napper and later as Mary Jamima Napper Ford. After marriage she is most often listed as Mary J. H. Blackstock.

Squaw Creek / Opaline Ranching

Mary married Adam H. Blackstock, a Scottish immigrant who settled in Owyhee County around 1900. They made their home at the Summer Camp Ranch on Squaw Creek, participating in the sheep and cattle economy that tied the Opaline and Marsing districts to the Snake River Valley.

Death & Burial

Mary died in Boise, Idaho, on October 20, 1934, at about 62 years of age. She is interred at Canyon Hill Cemetery, Caldwell (Block 55, Lot 38, Space NH-3), adjacent to her husband’s future resting place.
